What is Tadelakt?
Tadelakt is a traditional Moroccan lime plaster known for its smooth, seamless, naturally breathable and water-resistant finish.
Hand‑applied and polished with natural soap, it creates a warm, organic surface ideal for any interior, including bathrooms, living spaces, and feature walls. Tadelakt plaster is both environmentally conscious and visually striking — a true fusion of form and function.

Frequently Asked Questions about Tadelakt Plaster
How much does Tadelakt cost?
We provide free estimates tailored to your particular project, with the cost per m² dependent on the size of the area requested and the complexity of the application. Some elements of a project, such as niches, shelves, and vanity units, are costed as features as they are more technically involved to complete. Please contact us to get a quote.
Can you use Tadelakt for floors?
Unfortunately, no, this is its one disadvantage. Whilst Tadelakt is suitable for walls and ceilings, vanity units, tops, shelves and niches, it does not have sufficient resilience to be applied as a flooring. We can offer alternative floor finishes such as microcement and pastellone. Contact us to find out more.
Is Tadelakt waterproof?
Due to the textured appearance of Tadelakt, it is easy to assume that the plaster would be susceptible to damp. Whilst not waterproof in its natural state, Tadelakt is actually renowned for its water-resistant quality. This is what makes the Tadelakt an ideal material for bathroom walls. With the application of additional sealers, it can be made waterproof.
How long does it take for Tadelakt to be applied?
The process usually takes about a week for the installation and in addition we have a recommended drying and curing time in order for you to benefit from the best of the product. All details are contained within our Surface Preparation and Aftercare Guidance which accompanies any Formal Estimate should you choose to proceed.
Does Tadelakt crack?
It is not unusual to see cracks in traditional finishes. However, using modern techniques, the option of embedded mesh, and quality materials, cracks do not generally develop.
Does Tadelakt require much maintenance?
As Tadelakt is a traditional technique that uses natural materials, it does not need harsh chemical cleaners to keep it clean, but instead just wiping with water. It does need some upkeep, though: recoating with a Marseille soap solution regularly will ensure its great condition stays intact.
Can I see a sample of the finish?

“Carl is a very talented man. I brought him on board to Tadelakt walls in a bathroom I had designed. Carl is not only extremely passionate about his work, but he isalso super knowledgeable and helpful. He created the most beautiful walls for us and worked really hard to ensure the final look and feel was exactly what myself and the Client requested. The end result was stunning. “
