Venetian Plaster

Venetian plaster specialists in London

Venetian plaster is one of the most elegant, polished plaster wall finishes available today. Known for its depth, movement and sheen, it transforms ordinary surfaces into beautifully crafted works of art. Based in London and working nationwide, C Ferri Interiors creates bespoke Venetian plaster finishes for residential and commercial interiors, from contemporary apartments to luxury hotels, retail spaces and architectural projects.

What is Venetian plaster?

Venetian plaster (also known as polished plaster or stucco Veneziano) is a traditional lime-based finish originating in Italy.

Our Venetian plaster finishes include

  • Polished plaster – smooth marble-like sheen with subtle movement and a soft sheen. Ideal for feature walls, living spaces, reception areas and boutique interiors.
  • Marmorino – refined, stone like texture, beautiful in bathrooms, kitchens and architectural spaces. It’s the perfect choice for clients seeking a high-end aesthetic but with a natural, handcrafted finish.

Choose from a curated palette or request a bespoke colour match to achieve everything from soft neutrals to deep, dramatic tones.

Frequently Asked Questions about Venetian Plaster

What is the difference between Venetian Plaster and Tadelakt?

2
3

A good question, especially as both the Tadelakt and Venetian plaster we use come from Italy! Essentially Tadelakt is a pure, natural lime plaster, whilst Venetian plaster is a lime plaster blended with marble dust, giving it a smoother and more stone-like finish.

Is Venetian plaster waterproof?

2
3

Like Tadelakt, Venetian plaster becomes water-resistant when sealed correctly. With additional sealers, it can be made waterproof, meaning it can be used in bathrooms and kitchens where it may be exposed to steam and water.

What type of Venetian plaster finishes are available?

2
3

The most common are polished plaster, which is the smooth, glossy marble-like finish, and Marmorino, which is a softer, more stone-like finish. Our suppliers have over pre-selected colours available and also offer to colour match, creating bespoke pigments.

We work with our suppliers to provide samples on request. Please contact us to request a sample panel or a link to our suppliers’ colour charts.

Is Venetian plaster durable?

2
3

Yes. Venetian plaster is long‑lasting, relatively hard‑wearing and naturally resistant to mould and bacteria. Waxed or sealed finishes offer extra protection.

How do you maintain Venetian plaster?

2
3

Like its stablemate Tadelakt, Venetian plaster is relatively low‑maintenance. A soft cloth or gentle wipe is usually enough. Minor marks can often be repaired without redoing the entire wall.

How long does installation take?

2
3

The process usually takes about a week for the installation, and in addition we have recommended drying and curing time in order for you to benefit from the best of the product. All details are contained within our Surface Preparation and Aftercare Guidance, which accompanies any formal estimate should you choose to proceed.

How much does Venetian plaster cost?

2
3

As a handcrafted artisan finish, it sits at the premium end of the market. We provide free estimates tailored to your particular project, with the cost per m² dependent on the size of the area requested and the complexity of the application. Some elements of a project, such as niches, shelves, and vanity units, are costed as features as they are more technically involved to complete. Please contact us to get a quote.

Is Venetian plaster eco-friendly?

2
3

As with all lime plasters, Venetian plaster is naturally breathable, low in VOC's and made from natural materials. It supports healthy indoor air quality and is considered more sustainable than many synthetic wall finishes.

“I had Venetian Plastering in my bathroom. Carl was flexible, friendly and professional at all times. He communicated well throughout the job. The plastering is exceptional – it is more like art work – unique, colourful and completely waterproof for my shower room.”
